KABUL, Afghanistan — A young Afghan man was bitten by his pet kabuku (Japanese kabu) on Wednesday, and the dog was bitten back, according to local news outlets.
Police said the man, identified only as Abdulrahman, was in the home of his mother and brother when they found the pet on Wednesday.
The dog, named Kabuki, was reportedly biting the man and the mother, Abdulrahmans mother told the Agence France-Presse news agency.
The Afghan Ministry of Health and Social Welfare said in a statement that the dog is still in a cage and will not be released to the public.
“The man who was bitten has been admitted to a local hospital and is receiving treatment for minor injuries,” the ministry said.
